In the summer of 1980, two Jane Does were found, murdered 4 days and over 100 miles apart. It would take 38 years to convict the man that killed them, and 41 years to give one of them their names back. This is the 1980 case of the Kern County Jane Jane Doe.

The Ties That Find

Did you know that there are over 250,000 cold case homicides in the US at any given time? What if your family tree could be the key to solving just one of them?

Since 2018 law enforcement agencies have been utilizing a new investigative tool to track down violent offenders - the family tree. With the help of DNA technology and genetic family mapping, cases that have been cold for decades are now being solved. Victims and their families are finally getting answers and justice.

The Ties That Find showcases these victories.
